ALIEN RECORDS

Role: Brand Designer | Graphic Designer

Alien Records, a Los Angeles based record company, is founded on the belief that music transcends boundaries. From ethereal melodies of ambient electronica to the high-energy beats of futuristic synth-wave, the roster is diverse. Embracing the digital age while paying homage to the tangible essence of music. Music is promoted on streaming platforms, while celebrating the creation of album covers. I created a logo for a music company titled, “Alien Records.” I created assets for an actual record company which specializes in eclectic artists and music, and designing album covers for purchase. I brainstormed various logo icons for merchandise branding, built the framework for a website, designed a website, as well as albums covers.

Tools Used: Adobe Photoshop | Adobe InDesign

The logo serves as the cornerstone of Alien Records' visual identity. It's a fusion of cosmic elements and futuristic fonts, capturing the essence of the diverse and innovative music the label represents. The image of the flying saucer against a record album visually mimics the identity of the brand. The logo is designed to be versatile, ensuring its adaptability across various applications, from business branding, to album covers to music streaming sites.

A cohesive visual identity was extended through consistent branding elements. A cosmic color palette, inspired by the vibrant hues of the galaxy, was chosen. This palette seamlessly weaves through all visual materials, creating a harmonious and recognizable brand image.

Alien Records' press badges embody the essence of the record company. Designed with a fusion of cosmic elements and futuristic fonts, each press badge serves as a visual representation of the diverse and innovative music that Alien Records represents. The badges are not just identifiers; they are small, wearable works of art that convey the brand's commitment to pushing the boundaries of sound and style.

The press badges are not only aesthetically pleasing but also highly functional. They feature QR codes that, when scanned, lead to a dedicated page on the Alien Records website, providing instant access to press kits, artist bios, and exclusive content. This seamless integration of digital and physical elements reflects Alien Records' forward-thinking approach to music promotion.

The website was conceptualized and designed as a hub for music enthusiasts. The framework was carefully crafted to provide a user-friendly experience, featuring artist profiles, album releases, and a section to purchase concert tickets. The website design incorporates the cosmic color palette and showcases high-quality images of album covers and artists. This case study serves as a testament to the power of graphic design in not only visually representing a brand but also in enhancing its overall identity and presence within the competitive music industry.

I created an engaging and user-friendly artist page for Mayumbe music, featuring a comprehensive bio, showcasing their album for sale with cover artwork, providing an interactive song list for seamless playback, and a YouTube video preview.

Inside art of double album for Mayumbe,

The heart of the project lies in the creation of visually striking album covers. Each cover is a unique piece of art, capturing the essence and vibe of the music it represents. The designs draw inspiration from the diverse genres, utilizing bold visuals, intricate details, and the cosmic color palette to convey the sonic journey within each album.

Album covers designed by Alien Records showcase a visual coherence that ties together the diverse range of genres represented by the label. The use of the cosmic color palette, innovative typography, and striking imagery creates a consistent visual language across different releases. Each cover is a unique piece of art, reflecting the essence and vibe of the music it represents.

To design this album cover, I used a text blending technique in Adobe InDesign. Below is a demonstrative video of how the effect was created.
